The ice-ocean forecast is a research project of the Coastal Sciences Section, Ocean Sciences Division (OSD), funded by the Program for Energy Research and Development (PERD) and Canadian Coast Guard New SAR Initiatives Fund (NIF) to demonstrate the use of ocean models developed/adapted at OSD for real-time forecasting. The maps, animations and graphs displayed here are generated from three forecast models: the Canadian East Coast Ocean Model (CECOM), the WAVEWATCH III wave model and the Canadian east coast tide model. Model output includes sea-ice, ocean current, surface waves, sea surface elevation, tides and surface drift. To view the model details select Forecast Models from the sidebar menu. All forecasts start at 0000 and 1200 UTC. The maximum forecast period is 48 hours. To view the forecasts select Forecasts from the menu above.
